5 Days of Arctic Winter adventure in Ilulissat

Day 1 – City walk
After getting settled at Ilulissat Guesthouse, we will give you a briefing about your Greenlandic adventure. Afterwards we will do a City Walk around Ilulissat, where our experienced guide will show you the most important sites of this charming, little, colorful town located next to the UNESCO Ice fiord of Ilulissat

Day 2 – Ice Fjord Cruise + Northern light snow shoe hike
Sailing in the Disko Bay at Winter time, is an extraordinary experience. You will feel the Arctic nature up close as you enjoy the sun reflecting in the huge ice bergs just outside town, where the UNESCO area begins. A must for the photographer.

This evening tour will go out on a Northern light trip starting from Ilulissat Guesthouse, where our guide will give you an introduction to the equipment and the route. Remember to do the settings on your camera before going out on this trip.

Day 3 – Snow mobile trip and hike to the UNESCO-site.
On a snow mobile you are able to get out in to the back country of Ilulissat, where you can enjoy the beautiful landscape of valleys, frozen lakes – and sea ice. The route we will choose will always depend on the weather conditions, but one of the options is to visit the small settlement, Oqaatsut, which is situated just 21 km north of Ilulissat, where only 27 people live all year round.

Another option is to go up in the mountains to the area, where dogsleds are running back and forth between Ilulissat and the place where the locals go ice fishing. Both trips will be an amazing experience.

In the afternoon we’ll go for a hike to the UNESCO-site, Sermermiut, and continue out to the ice fjord to enjoy the breathtaking view over the ice fiord. Depending on the weather conditions, we will decide how long the trip will be.

Day 4 – Dog sled trip and Arctic sauna
One of the first things, which probably comes to mind when thinking about Greenland, is the dog sledge. The dog sledge has been used for hunting and transportation for the last 2000 years and is a very proud tradition. Something you will not miss out for the world, when visiting Greenland.

Which trip we will choose the specifik day depends on the weather conditions. We either head north of Ilulissat and drive along the shore and maybe, if its safe, drive out on the sea ice. Another option will be to go to the back country of Ilulissat, where you will have the view of the ice fiord. The dogsled tour is scheduled for 1,5 hours, but it is possible to upgrade to 3 hours for additional DKK 700,- per person, when two person on a sledge.

In the afternoon we invite you to join our Arctic wellness sauna with a panoramic view over the Diskobay.

Day 5 – Departure
Day of departure. It is now time to buy the very last souvenirs before flying back home. Or maybe stay a few more days – contact us at info@ilulissatadventure.com to get an offer.
